I have always admired the idea of the eyes being the windows to the soul. The emotions they are able to display enrich our everyday communication and other than soul, they symbolize psyche and limitless vision. Just last week I was having a conversation with some of my friends at uni while we were enjoying the sun outside, waiting for a lecture. We touched upon some really interesting topics during this talk, including memory and the fear of forgetting. Someone mentioned that according to her, it would be best to make to most out of our time as students since it is going to be over before we know it. She said that it is essential to create our best memories here and now, to have something to look back to for the entirety of the rest of our lives. This got me thinking that the great part about memories is that you can relive them over and over again in your head. Logically, if you make more good memories earlier on, you will have more time to think back of them and enjoy them, right? If we actually do wait and ‘forget’ to live in the moment, time will be running out and we will have less time to reminisce.

None of this would be possible without our eyes. As one of our most important sensory organs, the eyes allow us to perceive life in all its colors. Think of everything your eyes have seen: this whole life you have been living you have witnessed through the same pair! I made this drawing and enhanced it with various aquarelle colors to emphasize all that we have seen, be it so many different things, through our eyes. The different colors celebrate the countless experiences that have turned into memories and experiences, regardless of them being good or bad, and the ones yet to come.

May all your sights be phenomenal,
